Things didn’t go well for Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Lady Eagles Monday, as the team suffered a 14-0 loss to the Amite School Center Lady Rebels in a road contest in Liberty, Miss. The Lady Eagles were unable to record a hit during Monday’s game, which lasted just four innings.

Ben’s Ford’s hitters combined to strike out seven times in the setback. The Lady Eagles had one player reach base when catcher Kassie Lumpkin drew a four-pitch walk with one out in the third inning. After that, Amite School Center retired the final five Ben’s Ford Christian School hitters in the shutout win.

Ben’s Ford coach Mark McGehee credited Amite School Center, saying they were just a better team and added the Lady Eagles had too many miscues in the field.

“They swung the bat good and had good pitching,” McGehee said. “We had a lot of errors in the field. Most of it was throwing, just trying to get it to the base. We’d make an overthrow or it would hit their glove and come out. It was just little stuff, but too many little things. They didn’t make hardly any errors. They played almost a perfect game on defense and offense too.”

The loss put Ben’s Ford entering yesterday’s play at 2-2.

The game was the beginning of a three game road trip.

Ben’s Ford was on the road after yesterday’s press time facing Bowling Green. The Lady Eagles are back in action Aug. 11 with a road match up against Centreville.

The Lady Eagles return home Aug. 12 to take on Bowling Green and that begins a three-game homestand.

The three-gamer also include sgames against Lamar Christian Aug. 19 and Amite School Center Aug. 26.
