Bogalusa places 3 players on softball second team

Three players from Bogalusa’s softball team were named second team All-District players for 8-3A, while three more were recognized on the honorable mention list.
All of the second-team players are outfielders, including juniors Mikeyla Fortenberry and Essence Peters and sophomore Jazelyn Scott.
Three Lady Jacks were recognized as honorable mention players in juniors Kacie Morris and Kaitlin Morris along with sophomore Stephanie Jenkins.
This season, BHS missed the playoffs after finishing 2-9 overall and 2-6 in district play.
Albany’s John Legoria and Jewel Sumner’s Joanie Booty were the co-Coaches of the Year and Albany outfielder Jo Jo Peloquin is the district’s Most Valuable Player.
Both Albany and Sumner reached the playoffs and were eliminated in the bi-district round. Albany went as the No. 14 seed and lost to 19th seeded Church Point 14-2 in five innings. Church Point reached the regionals before falling to third seeded Brusly 7-3.
Sumner made it as the No. 16 seed before losing to 17th seeded Vidalia 9-5. Vidalia suffered a 7-0 loss to top seeded and eventual state champion John Curtis in the regional round.
Joining Peloquin in the outfield on first team are teammate Abby Albritton, Loranger’s Brenleigh Bankston and Andraneka Collins and Sumner’s Adrienne Cox and Kelsey Milton.
The first team pitchers are Albany’s Paige Pevey and Sumner’s Kristie Sanchez with Albany’s Shelby Cannon and Sumner’s Taryn McNabb at catcher.
Loranger’s Rachael Wyllie and Emily Stevens are in the infield along with Albany’s Haven Kinchen and Sabrina Nassar, Jewel Sumner’s Hailey Milton, Katelyn Bridges, Kayla Sanchez and Taylor Pittman.
Sumner’s Marlena Hartman is the utility player with Albany’s Janie Sanefur the designated hitter.
Switching to the second team, Loranger’s Jaimie Lynn Rogers and Drue Disher are the pitcher and catcher respectively.
Loranger teammates Sarah Bower, Cheyenne Cox and Whitney Voight along with Albany teammates Savanna Bourgeois and Keri Disedare make up the infield.
Including Bogalusa’s Fortenberry, Peters and Scott, Loranger’s Byronesha Jackson and Sumner’s Fallon Plaisance are the outfielders.
Albany’s Meredith Cleveland and Lorang-er’s Kaley Uter are at utility and Loranger’s Samantha Chandler along with Sumner’s Chassidy Seals are the designated hitters.
Besides BHS’ Jenkins, Kacie Morris and Kaitlin Morris, the rest of the honorable mention players are Albany’s Ariel Cook and Kellee Costa, Independence’s Ariel James, Megan Martinez, Jordyn Morgan, Kelsey Null and Dominique Truxillo and Loranger’s Annie Ball, Mason Harrison, Sierra Hernandez and Sumner’s Monica Williams.
