Bogalusa loses to Pearl River
Bogalusa suffered a 15-0 loss to Pearl River on the road Wednesday.
Jazlyn Scott and Kimberly Turner both singled for the Lady Jacks.
Franklinton downs Pearl River
Franklinton pounded out 13 hits, led by Kalie Buffinet, and beat Pearl River 12-3 in Tuesday’s District 8-4A at home.
Buffinet recorded four hits and drove in a run for the Lady Demons (9-4, 2-1 at press time). Baylee Mixon went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Laken Spears doubled and posted two RBIs, while Austen Felder doubled and drove in a run.
Haley Sanford doubled and tallied three times. Faith Chauvin and Macy Purvis both singled with an RBI, and Hannah Adams and Shelby McDonald both singled.
Adams was the winning pitcher. She threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs on just two hits while striking out 10 and walking six.
Mt. Hermon falls to Hannan
Mt. Hermon suffered a 22-4 loss to perennial powerhouse Archbishop Hannan in a District 8-2A home game Tuesday.
Mt. Hermon’s runs came on bases loaded walks to Aesha Magee, Destiny Brumfield, Kiara Williams and Taylor Blanchard.
Kaleigh Hughes and Alexis Alford had one hit apiece.
The Lady Hawks won back-to-back state titles in 2011-12 and were the state runner-up last year.
Pine tops Hammond
Pine was victorious over Hammond, 13-12, on the road Monday.
Abbey Whaley singled and tripled. Kayla Temples singled twice, while Hannah Jacobs doubled. Megan Graham and Jaelyn Barr both singled.
Dakota Thomas threw five innings with three strikeouts.
Pine goes 2-1 in tournament
Pine tallied a 2-1 record in the Jewel Sumner Tournament last Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Raiders won the first game, 17-2, in three innings over Mt. Hermon, as Kayla Temples drove in five runs.
Hannah Jacobs had two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Dakota Thomas singled and drove in a run. She also pitched, throwing two innings and striking out five.
In Saturday’s action, Pine lost to Albany, 15-4, and downed Woodlawn of Baton Rouge, 15-3.
Jacobs and Paris Kennedy both singled twice, and Sierra Miley had a hit.
In the game against Woodlawn, Kennedy singled and tripled, while Alyssa Wallace had three hits (two singles and a double). Jaelyn Barr drew four walks.
Thomas singled twice and pitched the entire game, finishing with eight strikeouts.
Pine sweeps STA in doubleheader
Pine moved to 8-4 at press time with a doubleheader sweep over St. Thomas Aquinas, 13-2 and 15-10, on the road Wednesday.
Kayla Temples had a big game for the Lady Raiders in the opener. She hit two homers and singled. Jaelyn Barr had four singles and three stolen bases. Paris Kennedy had two hits, including a triple, two RBIs and a stolen base. Rachel Williams singled, tripled and drove in a run. Macy Cobb singled, tripled and had an RBI.
Dakota Thomas threw five innings and struck out eight.
In the second game, Williams put a solid contest together with four hits, including a homer and three RBIs. Megan Graham finished with four hits, including two doubles and she drove in four runs. Kayla Temples singled twice, doubled, posted two RBIs and three steals. Alyssa Wallace singled twice and doubled, while driving in a run.
Abbey Whaley singled three times and swiped two bases, while Jaelyn Barr singled twice and drove in a run. Sierra Miley finished with two hits, while Paris Kennedy had one.
