The Annunciation Beta Club has had an eventful year filled with service projects.
Funds were raised and donated to various charitable causes. We are most appreciative of the contributions made by our school family during the 2012-2013 school year.
The club kicked off the year by hosting a Relay Recess to raise money for the fight against cancer. We followed up with the Pennies for Patients fundraiser. These funds were donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Muscular Dystrophy Association benefitted from our Shamrocks Against MD campaign. Lastly, our club is sponsoring a “Math-a-Thon” to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
We also focused on the less fortunate in our own community by assisting with the food drive and collection of coats at our school. Honoring our veterans is important to us. Beta members prepared for the school’s Veteran’s Day Program, labeling commemorative flags. Many of our Beta members also serve their churches and participate in other community activities.
Our goal was to follow the Beta motto “Lead by Serving Others.” Our club completed 1,073 service hours and contributed over $1,000 to our chosen causes.
ACS Beta members attended both the Beta district day and the state convention.
Following our school’s recent standardized testing week, we hosted a Beta Bash, in which our officers operated a concession stand and a DJ provided music. These funds are being used for our school’s Beta programs, including our first banquet.
We celebrate a successful year, for our efforts in helping others, and for the opportunity to develop future leaders of Washington Parish.
