Franklinton girls 4×100 team wins, advances to regionals

Franklinton’s 4×100 team won their event and advanced to regionals in the District 9-4A Meet Wednesday.

The Lady Demons ran in 51.72 seconds with Salmen (52.15) runner-up.

The meet was hosted by Pearl River at Salmen. The top four finishers from each event advanced to the regional meet, which is Wednesday at East Jefferson.

Franklinton had two javelin throwers make it to state. Brianna Hebert (83-3) and Makayla Magee (81-10) took third-and-fourth respectively in the jav-elin with Lakeshore’s Ireland Crosby (98-9) winning.

Pearl River’s Faith Washington topped the shot put (31-3) and discus (97-7).

Lakeshore’s Taylor Thompson won the pole vault (11-0) with Salmen’s Deja Washington topping the high jump (4-4).

Lakeshore’s Darien Loupe won the long jump (16-4.5), 100-meters and 200.

Franklinton’s Denetra Rayford (12.40) was third in the 100.

Lakeshore’s Devan Curtis won the triple jump (30-2) and Lakeshore topped the 4×200 (1:48).

Pearl River’s Ashleigh Nave won the 800 (2:52), 1,600 (6:26) and 3,200 (14:54).

Salmen’s Te’shara Gibson won the 400 (1:05) with Lakeshore’s Sydney Bodie topping the 300-hurdles (52.21).

Lakeshore captured the 4×400 (4:54) with Franklinton (5:43) the runner-up.

Salmen’s Alexus Morgan won the 100-hurdles.
