FHS’ 4×100 team places 3rd in CHS track meet

Franklinton’s 4×100-meter relay team was third-place in the Allie Smith Invitational Friday at Covington High School.

The squad, which featured Lakerian Warren, Brandi Pittman, Tyeishia Anders and Denetra Rayford, finished in 51.79 seconds.

Slidell (50.40) won the race with Covington (51.18) second.

Slidell’s Jessica Harris was named the track MVP, with Ponchatoula’s Airianna Hamilton taking the field MVP.

Harris topped the 100 (11.94) and 200 (24.90). Franklinton’s Rayford (13.11) and Anders (13.31) were seventh and ninth in the 100. Warren (28.51) and Sharonica Thomas (30.15) placed 10th and 15th in the 200.

Hamilton was a double-event winner in the long jump (16-9.5) and triple jump (35-9.75). Franklinton’s Takia Abron (10-8) was 14th in the long jump.

First Baptist Christian School’s Gabrielle Jennings was a double-winner, besting the 800 (2:21) and 1,600 (5:18).

Ponchatoula captured the 13-team meet with 100.5 points. Slidell (85) was second, followed by St. Thomas Aquinas (78), Lakeshore (61) and Covington (60.5) rounded out the top five.

Franklinton (6) finished 12th.

St. Thomas Aquinas’ Avrielle Steward (1:01) topped the 400 with Franklinton’s Alonna Brumfield (1:12) 17th.

St. Scholastica Academy’s Carley Boyce won the 3,200 (12:06), Northshore’s Terri Jackson captured the 100 hurdles (16.47) and Covington’s Morgan Jarrell topped the 300 hurdles (49.12).

Slidell won the 4×200 (1:44) with Franklinton (1:57) eighth. The Lady Demons’ group had Anders, Thomas, Warren and Destinee McClain.

St. Thomas Aquinas took the 4×400 (4:12) with FHS (5:41) seventh. Franklinton’s squad featured Brumfield, Chelsea Baham, Madison Jordan and Dajour Burkhalter.

Lakeshore’s Mattie Schmolke topped the high jump (5-2), and Ponchatoula’s Maddison Mizzell won the pole vault (10-6).

Covington’s Brooke Jones captured the shot put (35-7).

Franklinton teammates Keona Martin (24-1.5) and Whitney Warren (19-5.5) finished 18th and 23rd.

Northshore’s Skylar Erickson was victorious in the discus (113-8). Franklinton’s Alisha Anthony (69-3) and Breana Hebert (65-0) placed 15th and 17th, respectively.

St. Scholastica Academy’s Samantha Zelden won the javelin (118-11).

Franklinton’s Breana Hebert (80-0) was 10th, and Makayla Magee (76-0) finished 14th.
