FHS girls sweep Bogalusa in softball

Franklinton’s Lady Demons captured both ends of Tuesday’s doubleheader, defeating Bogalusa 17-0 and 15-0 at home.

Franklinton, which won both games in three innings, was 12-15 at press time.

Haley Sanford highlighted the opener by throwing a three-inning perfect game for the Lady Demons.

Sanford retired all nine batters she faced and struck out three while throwing just 36 pitches. At the plate, Sanford singled and scored twice.

Brittney Burch finished with two hits, including a double and two runs batted in. Carley Shipley singled twice and tallied two runs. Khristian Capo singled, drove in two and scored three runs. Laken Spears and Darbie Smith both had a hit and posted two runs.

Franklinton, who hit first, scored 10 first-inning runs before adding six in the second and another in the third.

The Lady Demons, who batted last in the second contest, were limited to just three hits, but took advantage of nine walks, three errors and a hit batter.

Darien Dykes got the job done at the plate and in the circle.

Dykes doubled and drove in four runs. Dykes also got the win, throwing the three innings and allowing one hit with two strikeouts. Baylee Mixon singled twice, rounding out the Lady Demons’ hits. Sanford, Spears, Austen Felder and Alex Williams all recorded one run batted in.

Bogalusa’s Sabrina Meyn tallied the Lady Jacks’ only hit. Kimberly Turner reached base when she was hit by a pitch.

Franklinton put up 10 runs in the first before adding five more in the second.
