Franklinton adds another win

Franklinton’s Demons recorded their 14th consecutive victory Tuesday, topping Lakeshore’s Titans 6-4 at home.

It was the 399th career victory for coach Jeff Tageant, who went for No. 400 after yesterday’s press time.

Winning pitcher Will McCullough started and threw 5.1 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Kevin Simmons recorded the save, allowing one unearned run over the final 1.2 innings of hitless relief with three strikeouts and a walk.

Franklinton jumped out to a 5-0 lead through four innings and added an insurance run during the sixth. Lakeshore scored a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and another in the seventh.

Jared Varnado plated the first run of the fourth with an RBI triple. He scored on Terrance Robinson’s run-scoring single. Robinson eventually went to third and came in when Morgan Angelo put down a safety squeeze.

Tanner Jenkins, who went 3-4 Thursday, continued his hot hitting with a fifth-inning single. Jenkins began yesterday with a hit in 10 of his last 12 games.

Landon Magee and Josh Magee both singled. Courtesy runner Brandon Thomas recorded a pair of runs.
