Pine falls to Springfield

Pine’s Raiders suffered an 11-6 setback to Springfield in Thursday’s district home game.

The Raiders (7-7, 1-1) scored the game’s first six runs, all coming in the second inning, but the Bulldogs scored four in the third and three more in the fourth to go up 7-6. They tacked on another in the sixth before adding three more in the seventh.

Pine’s Hunter Cooper doubled twice and drove in three runs. Evan Vasalech put up three hits and drove in a run. Conner Ard and Jordan Phelps both tallied a hit and an RBI. Phelps’ knock was a double.

Ben’s Ford downs Prentiss

Ben’s Ford Christian School continued its stretch of lopsided victories, downing Prentiss 16-4 in a MAIS District 8-A road game Thursday. Ben’s Ford (7-5, 4-0) has outscored its last three opponents by a combined score of 47-6.

The Eagles led 5-3 through four innings before widening the gap with seven in the fifth to go up 12-3.

Cody Stewart led the way, going 4-5 with two runs batted in. Jordan Thomas posted two hits and an RBI, while Josh Crain recorded one hit and drove in two.

Brian Hines, Cole Edward and Garrett Pounds all posted a hit and an RBI. Shelby Culpepper drove in three with Daniel Pittman adding an RBI.

Winning pitcher Culpepper started and went four innings, while allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
