Franklinton girls defeat Salmen

Franklinton’s girls’ tennis team remained undefeated Wednesday with a 4-1 victory over Salmen, while the boys suffered a close loss.

The Lady Demons (5-0), who are 2-0 in district, split their singles matches.

Samantha Avera was victorious over Lindsey Nguyen 6-2, 6-1, while Krystal Graham lost both of her sets to Breana McManus 6-4, 6-4.

The Lady Demons won all of their doubles’ contests.

Ashley Kennedy/Ashley Varnado defeated Victoria La/Lauren Pedeaux 6-0, 6-1. Hannah Pittman/Rachel Laciura won against La/Pedeaux 6-3, 6-0. Ashton Keaton/Sarah Jones both won by forfeit.

Franklinton’s boys suffered a 3-2 loss.

The Demons (1-4) are 1-1 in district.

Franklinton split its singles matches with both going to the tiebreaking game.

Terrance Harvey lost to Chris Callan 3-6, 7-6, 10-1. James Druhet topped Kevin Hursey 3-6, 7-6, 10-7.

The Demons went 1-2 in doubles.

T.J. Willie/Anthony Jones won in straight sets against Brandon Barr/Brian Nicaud 6-3, 6-1. Parker Watson/A.J. Calhoun lost to Kevin Huynh/Joseph La 6-2, 6-2. Spencer Watson/Justin Crowell fell to Raymond Crochet/ Sterling Doss 6-2, 6-4.

In Tuesday’s action, Franklinton’s girls defeated Fontainebleau

Samantha Avera won her singles match. Ashley Kennedy/ Ashley Varnado captured a doubles match along with Sarah Jones and Ashton Keaton.

The boys lost to Fontainebleau 3-1.

Franklinton’s next match occurs April 4 at home against Lakeshore.
