Two Lady Demons tabbed all-district

Franklinton’s Amber Carter and Hailey Sellers were named all-District 7-4A players.

Carter put up seven points and pulled down seven rebounds per game in district play. Her highest point total in league play was 12 against Pearl River and her best rebounding contest was 13 when they faced Lakeshore.

Sellers averaged 15 points and five boards a match up. Her highest scoring contest was 28 against Hammond and her best rebounding game was eight, which she did when they played Salmen.

Franklinton turned in a solid season, going 22-5. Four of their five losses were against playoff teams. Two of the setbacks came to Class 4A state champion Salmen.

The all-district squad had a number of league champion Salmen players on it.

Kalani Brown was named the league’s MVP with Salmen’s Kevin Anderson receiving Coach of the Year honors.

Macy DeGruy, Christy Ducre, Hayley Pichon and Megan Brown were also named to the all-district squad.

Lakeshore, Pearl River and Hammond all had one player.

LHS’ Deja Lewis, PRHS’ Rachel Pyke and Hammond’s Kasey Sheriden were picked for the team.

Two other Lady Demons’ players were named honorable mention, including Cheyenne Fornea and Kierra Williams.

Lakeshore and Salmen also had two players for honorable mention.

LHS’ Raven Daniels and Linda Gomez-Gil along with Salmen’s Rachel Austin and Tiara Austin were all honorable mention.

Pearl River’s Katelyn Mumphrey and Hammond’s Lakaron MeGee were also honorable mention.
