Franklinton rolls on

Franklinton continued its winning ways Thursday, defeating host Fontainebleau 11-2 behind strong hitting from Tanner Jenkins and Kevin Simmons and solid pitching by Will McCullough. Jenkins recorded four hits, two for doubles and he drove in five. Simmons tallied three hits, including a double and he drove in three. McCullough started and threw five innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits with eight strikeouts and a walk. Terrance Robinson pitched two frames in relief, giving up a run with four strikeouts. At the plate, he posted two singles. Josh Magee singled, doubled and scored three runs. Morgan Angelo and Landon Magee both logged two hits, including a double. The teams met again Friday at Franklinton. The Demons were 9-5 at press time.

Pine defeats Bogalusa

Pine’s Devin Phillips posted three hits and four RBIs and the Raiders put up 14 hits in a 15-5 victory over Bogalusa during Thursday’s first game of the Holden Tournament at Pine. Jordan Phelps singled, tripled and drove in three, while Tanner Graham had three hits, including a pair of doubled and two RBIs. Hunter Cooper tripled and a singled. Trevor Stuart singled with three RBIs. Trey Cooper, Nick Adcox and Evan Vasalech all singled and drove in a run. Trey Cooper was the winning pitcher.

Bogalusa’s Fred Brooks and Cam Robinson recorded two hits each. Ashed Levi, Eli Hatcher and Travion Harris all had a hit and a run batted in. Levi’s was a double. Dyshawn Harris tripled, while Harlum McGee doubled. Tim Brown drove in a run.

Varnado loses to Holden

Varnado’s Wildcats lost 12-2 against Holden on the opening day of the Holden Tournament Thursday. The Wildcats were limited to just a pair of hits. Isaiah Alexander tallied a hit and scored on Xavier Moses’ RBI groundout. D.J. Jefferson went 1-2.

Mt. Hermon sweeps Bogalusa

Mt. Hermon won both ends of Thursday’s home doubleheader 19-1 and 15-0 over Bogalusa. Kelsey Withers homered. Winning pitcher Alyssa Woodard struckout three, walked two and hit one. Bogalusa had two hits. Sabrina Meyn singled and scored, while Kyle Miley also singled.

The second game saw Mt. Hermon break open a 3-0 lead after two with 12 during the third. Pitcher Taylor Blanchard struckout two and hit three. Woodard and Withers both tripled
