The Bogalusa Lady Jacks fell to 0-2 on the season with a tough loss at Independence Thursday. The Lady Tigers took a 7-1 lead in the first inning and then ran away with the game on the strength of an eight-run rally in the third. The contest was called at the end of the fourth with the final score 20-5.
“We have to improve on our pitching,” said coach Steve Sanders. “Too many walks have really hurt us in both of our games so far.”
Sanders noted that freshman Jazlyn Scott was the player of the game for the Lady Jacks.
“She’s a gamer, a true athlete,” he said.
Sanders also said the softball program is in need of a pitching machine and is accepting donations toward the purchase of one. He said the machine will go a long way in improving his team’s offensive play, and anyone interested in donating should contact the Bogalusa High School office.
The Lady Jacks were busy yesterday, traveling to Kentwood to participate in the Cowgirl Invitational tournament. The team was scheduled to play West Feliciana, Varnado and Woodlawn.
