Lady Bucs take AA South State Championship

Bowling Green’s girls came away from the AA South State Championship held last week at Brookhaven Academy in Mississippi with the title, and both the boys and girls teams will be advancing to the AA State Tournament.

During the Thursday games, the Lady Bucs got a 58-40 win over Adams, and the Bucs beat Laurel Christian, 61-46.

On Friday, the girls were victorious over Oak Forest, finishing 63-37, while the boys fell to Brookhaven, 50-23.

The Lady Bucs went on to the championship game Saturday and came away with the win over Simpson Academy, 77-58. The Bucs faced Simpson Academy in the consolation game and lost 52-38.

Both teams will move on to the AA State Tournament at Canton Academy in Canton, Miss. The number one seed from the south, the Lady Bucs will face Indianola Academy (No. 4 from the north) today at 6:30 p.m. The number-four-ranked boys team will play Marshall Academy, the north’s number one seed, today at 7:45 p.m.
