The JV Lumberjacks of Bogalusa defeated the JV Demons of Franklinton in their second matchup of the season Wednesday. Bogalusa led from start to finish in the game, but Franklinton fought hard to make it close in the fourth quarter before falling, 33-21.

The JV Jacks nearly pitched a shutout in the first quarter of the game, holding the JV Demons to just three points. At the end of the first Bogalusa led 10-3. The defensive pressure by Bogalusa continued to frustrate Franklinton in the second quarter as they didn’t get a basket until the 2:20 mark of the period. That would be their only field goal of the quarter, and at halftime the JV Jacks held a 17-5 lead.

Franklinton outscored Bogalusa 8-6 in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 23-13 entering the fourth. The offense for the JV Jacks became stagnant in the early part of the final period; meanwhile, two 3-pointers by the Demons’ Bobby Chauvin made it a 23-19 game with 4:40 left to play. Chauvin led the JV Demons with six points.

Feeling the heat, the JV Jacks were able to get their offense going. Jumpshots by Eric Williams and Jakeithen Graves were key parts of a 10-2 run to close the game, giving Bogalusa a 33-21 win on the road.

Graves led all scorers on the night with eight points, while Williams was right behind with six. Other scorers for the JV Jacks were Lorenzo James with five points, Kenny Robertson and Rashad Burnette with four each, Cedric Porter with three, Demetri Baham with two and Tre Short with one.

In addition to Chauvin’s six points, the JV Demons got four points from Ryche Jenkins, two points each from Jay Magee, K.J. Magee, Azendo Magee and Tyler Jones, and one point from Quincy Stewart.
