Bogalusa knocked out of Skipper Classic Tourney by host team

Mandeville and Salmen captured one-sided victories to advance to the Skipper Classic championship game, which was played on Saturday.

The tournament took place Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. It was originally scheduled for Wednesday-Friday, but Friday’s contests were pushed back a day due to the Skippers’ football team competing against Archbishop Rummel in the Class 5A state semifinals. Each day featured four contests.

Salmen put their name in the finals with a 53-34 victory over Catholic of Baton Rouge.

Eric Bell scored a game-high 18 points with Mike Wilson tallying 13 and Cody Rudolph totaling 11.

Thomas Barfield led the Bears with eight.

Mandeville followed with a 74-47 victory over Bogalusa.

Jeremy Priola turned in a solid night with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Logan Dugas registered 18 with Hunter Dugas at 10 and Logan Barragan putting up eight.

Bogalusa’s Brian Williams finished with 18 points, followed by Trevonne Mingo’s 16.

In the other two games, Slidell opened Thursday by defeating West Jefferson 59-48 behind Tré Rollins’ solid game.

Rollins had double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds to go with four assists.

Tristan Fleming had 16 points, while Blake Reynard finished with 10 and Jamal Dokes was at eight.

West Jefferson’s Jonathan Dalton and Trevanta Robinson both scored 13.

Lakeshore held off Fontainebleau 57-50. LHS was up by 24 at one point.

LaQuincy Lewis topped the Titans with 15 points. Glenn Ellis had 14, Cole Freeman totaled 11, Matt Larroquette posted seven and Jacin Morrison logged six.

Jason Tullier led FHS with 17 points. Joseph Ascani had nine, while Colin Buttone added eight.
