Demons fall to Fontainebleau in playoffs

Fontainebleu’s Destin Cole pitched six strong innings to help spark his club to a 7-1 victory over Franklinton on June 25 at The Boneyard in the opening round of Northshore Summer Baseball League West Division playoffs.
Tate Rivera was the hitting star, delivering two hits including a triple with a run batted in and scored once as Bulldog Diamond Club tallied seven runs in the bottom of the third to come back from a 1-0 deficit.
Bulldog Diamond Club (7-3), the No. 2 seed in the West Division moved on to face No. 1 seed St. Paul’s based Peake BMW (St. Paul’s based). Franklinton (5-4), the No. 3 seed, hosted Madisonville falling 3-1 to conclude the summer season.
Cole (2-0) held Franklinton to just three hits en route to the victory. He recorded six strikeouts, but issued five walks.
Franklinton took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the second. With one out, Mack McElveen and C.J. Estave delivered back-to-back singles off of Cole and Brandon Thomas drew a walk to load the bases. Cole retired the next hitter on a line drive to right before Donovan Alonzo earned a walk to score McElveen. Cole got out of the inning on a ground ball out, stranding three Demon runners.
