Ronald McKenzie

Ronald Wayne McKenzie, 65, a resident of Pine, died Friday morning, May 19, 2017, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond.

He was the owner/operator of McKenzie Wrecker Service and a former Washington Parish Sheriff’s Deputy for over 15 years. Ronald taught auto mechanics at the former Franklinton Vocational School for 20 years. He loved restoring and collecting antique cars that he often took to car shows throughout the area.

Ronald also used to race dirt track cars and thoroughbred horses. He enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting with friends each morning at L&L Grocery in Pine. He was always a loving husband, father and grandfather, and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by: his wife, Joyce Owens McKenzie of Pine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Robert Stuart, and Casey and Steven Barber, all of Pine; his mother, Jimmie Lou Freeman McKenzie of Pine; his sister, Vicki McKenzie Wood of Madisonville; five grandchildren, Easton Barber, Trevor Stuart and his fiancé Katlyn Thibodeaux, Allison Stuart, Makenzie Stuart, and Brody Stuart; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Deloy Owens and Mary Owens of Sandy Hook, Miss., sister-in-law, Brenda Owens; and also several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, K.C. McKenzie; mother-in-law, Louise Owens; and brothers-in-law, Rick Wood and Curtis Owens.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday, May 20, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 21. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Darren Uzel, Eld. Mark Hobgood and Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Trevor Stuart, Karon Breland, Steve Breland, Charles Kennedy, Tommy Thomas, Lance Sanchez, Jason McKenzie, Kendall McKenzie and Eric Ingram. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry McKenzie, Hezzie Crain, Gary Thomas, Geary McKenzie, Herbert McKenzie, Reid Kennedy, Daryl Miley and Tom Anderson.
