It’s not something you see very often for any parish during the football season, but tonight it happens, and it should make every football fan in Washington Parish very happy.

Every single football team in Washington Parish is playing in the parish tonight, with five of the six at home.

Three of the parish’s six football teams are opening the home portion of their schedule.

In Bogalusa, the Lumberjacks are hosting St. James in their home opener. Before the game begins, fans are invited to compete in a barbeque cookoff.

The entry fee is $25 and grills must be inside the stadium by 4 p.m. Prizes and awards will be available to the winners. For more information, call the school at 985-281-2180 and ask for Connie Little, Athletic Director Ken Martin or head football coach David Roberts.

Staying in Bogalusa, Ben’s Ford Christian School is at home facing Centreville Academy, as the Eagles look to even their record at 2-2 after beginning the year 0-2.

In Varnado, two parish teams hook up when the Wildcats take on Pine in the VHS home opener. Pine is playing its first home game next week against Independence.

Two games are taking place in Franklinton tonight.

The Demons are at home taking on Amite in a battle of top 10 teams in the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Poll. Franklinton is No. 7 in Class 4A while Amite is second in Class 3A.

Also in Franklinton, Bowling Green attempts to get to 3-1 with a contest against Amite School Center.

It should be a great night for football in Washington Parish tonight, so get out there and support the local high schools.
