BOGALUSA, La. – The YMCA has planned a viewing event for the upcoming eclipse on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10:00 A.M. with free eclipse glasses, while supplies last.

“Activities will be available,” YMCA Robotics Coordinator George Corkern said. “Bring a chair and a light lunch.”

The eclipse will be visible in the area starting at 10:34 A.M. according to eclipse2024.com and will last until 1:45 P.M. as the moon blocks the sun from view.

According to Toni St.Philip, the CEO of the local YMCA, they have been trained by NASA to hold this eclipse event.

It is dangerous to view an eclipse without special glasses. The YMCA has 250 glasses that will be given out on a first come first serve basis.
