Delorice Spillman Mizell, 83, a resident of the Isabel Community, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 5, 2021, at the PAM Hospital in Covington. She was born in Bogalusa on March 10, 1938, and was a longtime member of Isabel Baptist Church.

Delorice served her church family as music director for many years and led the church choir. She worked in Bogalusa at Adam’s Hardware, ACE Hardware and later at King’s Hardware, where she served the public in the plumbing and other departments and also handled bookkeeping. Delorice most recently worked at Hall’s Hardware in Franklinton. She enjoyed taking care of her many plants and working in her vegetable and flower gardens. Delorice loved traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains every year and having her family over for Thanksgiving and Christmas, when she had her house beautifully decorated. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren.

She is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and David Pigott of Isabel, and Connie and Robert McDaniel of Franklinton; five grandchildren and spouses, Jeremy and Sheri Pigott, Jennifer Pigott, Michael McDaniel, Eric and Lauren McDaniel, and Tyler Pigott; six great-grandchildren, Andrew Pigott and his wife Allison, Weston Pigott, Lane Pigott, Carson Pigott, Caroline McDaniel and Wyatt McDaniel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hilton and Linda Spillman of Varnado, and Jerry and Joyce Spillman of Bogalusa; sister-in-law, Cynthia Spillman of Sumrall, Miss.; and also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Everette Mizell; husband O.J. Mizell; mother, Leila Savoy; father, Jerry Everette Spillman; and brother, Earl Spillman.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 7, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., and after 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 8. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, with the Rev. Jeff Mizell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mizell Cemetery.
