Children in the parish have a chance to play basketball and soccer.
There is a youth basketball league starting in Bogalusa and the Franklinton Soccer Club was established this year.
The basketball league is open to boys and girls from ages 4-12 and registration is ongoing at the YMCA from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m., along with Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. through noon.
The league features three age groups in 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
Games start on Dec. 7 and are being held on Saturdays.
The Franklinton Soccer Club, which is open to anyone above the age of 3, will have two seasons with the first one running from March 1 until May 2.
The group is meeting at First Baptist Church of Franklinton on Monday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m., where they will answer questions, begin registration, showcase uniforms, hear from the executive director of the Louisiana Soccer Association and share a great meal.
These are two great opportunities for children to compete and learn about basketball and soccer. We wish both of these groups plenty of success.
