Football season is winding down and that means the winter sports are almost here.

For three local schools in Ben’s Ford Christian School, Bowling Green School and Mt. Hermon School, basketball season is only about two to 2-1/2 weeks away.

Mt. Hermon plays in the Holden Jamboree on Oct. 28, which is the same day that Bowling Green School’s girls team begins the 2019-20 season in the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Tournament.

The following day, Ben’s Ford’s girls team opens against Our Lady Academy of Bay St. Louis, Miss.

Mt. Hermon’s boys regular season opener is Nov. 4 at home against Family Christian School while both teams play on Nov. 8 at Grand Isle. Nov. 8 is also the Lady Jackets’ opener.

Both Ben’s Ford teams play on Nov. 5, which is the first regular season game for their boys. Those games are at Wilkinson County Christian Academy.

Bowling Green’s basketball teams are both in action on Nov. 7 and that is the boys team’s opener. Those contests are home games against Central Hinds Academy.

On Nov. 12, Varnado hosts the Washington Parish Basketball Jamboree.

We wish our seven local schools’ basketball teams good luck this season.
