Joseph Jackson

Joseph “Lawrence” Jackson was born on Dec. 2, 1936, to the late Beulah Harris in New Orleans. He departed this life on Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, in Bogalusa.
He formerly worked for J.C. Penney and Crown Zellerbach before moving to Grand Rapids, Mich. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June of 1962, where he served until discharged. After leaving the Army, he worked for Amway until retirement. He was a handyman in a great number of capacities.
He leaves to mourn: four daughters, Mary Baker of Bogalusa, Denise McKennis, Veda Curtis and Kim Patterson, all of Grand Rapids; three stepsisters, June Watson Bolden and Brenda Dianne Mosley of New Orleans, and Mary Watson of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Harris Watson; brother, Johnny Jackson; and granddaughter, Shantell Baker Butler.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 7, at noon at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa. Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
