This week is a big week for local football fans, as every team from Washington Parish is in action either in the regular season or scrimmages.

It is the regular season in MAIS.

Bowling Green opens the season in Montgomery, Ala., on Aug. 17 and they continue their season on Friday with a road game against Cathedral Unit School.

Ben’s Ford Christian School starts the regular season on Friday at home against Rebul Academy.

In LHSAA action, it is scrimmage week for the four local teams.

Franklinton, Pine and Bogalusa all play on Thursday while Varnado plays on Friday.

Franklinton, Pine and Varnado are at home. Franklinton plays Hammond and Pine is facing Albany. Bogalusa is on the road against Fontainebleau. Varnado is going against Tara.

The Washington Parish Jamboree takes place Aug. 30 and the regular season gets under way the following week.

It is a great chance for local fans to get out and support their teams.
