August is busy month for sports events

August is still young and there are several events coming up for people of all ages.

The Bogalusa Soccer Association is holding registration on Saturdays, Aug. 10 and Aug. 17, at the Bogalusa Sports Complex on Avenue B for boys and girls ages 3-16. The cost is $60 per person. Signups run from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on both days.

Also on Aug. 10, the TRU Archery team is holding the Bow Hunter Blow Out with start times at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. at 37378 Louisiana Highway 1056 in Mt. Hermon.

The group will have shots from ground blinds, tree stands, a long shoot and door prizes. The event has two start times at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. The team will also have their raffle tickets for sale. Tickets are $2.

On Tuesday, Bowling Green’s Football Booster Club is holding an organizational meeting in the school’s cafeteria at 6 p.m. The meeting will have an election for a president, vice president, treasurer and parent representatives for each class, discussing upcoming fundraising opportunities, signing up for pregame and postgame meals, hearing from coach Riley Boudreaux and ordering football yard signs.

On Sunday, Aug. 18, Bogalusa Little Baseball is holding the 2019 Fun Day and Players Recognition at the Avenue U Ballpark from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Team pictures will be taken. Other activities include inflatables, games, food, drinks and prizes. Each team and coaches will be recognized and awards will be presented.

The Bogalusa Little League thanks league members, coaches, players and parents for their support and efforts to make the 2019 Bogalusa Little League Fun Day a success.

In two weeks, the 15th annual YMCA Golf Classic is being held on Aug. 24 at the Bogalusa Country Club.

The format is a two-person scramble and costs $100 per golfer. The entry fee includes the cart, green fees, mulligans and lunch.

Raffle tickets will be sold for prizes. Carts are limited, so if you have a cart, you are asked to bring it. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with lunch at 11 a.m. and tee time is set for noon.
