James Parker

James Elbert Parker passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, at the age of 87. He was born in Bogalusa on Dec. 29, 1931.

He attended Southeastern Louisiana State University. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was a Master Electrician. He was a proud member of the Local 1077 IBEW for 70 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margie Vincent Parker of Bogalusa; his children, Stephanie Parker (Scott) Adams of Bogalusa, Craig (Debbie Varnado) Parker of Bogalusa, Nancy Adaline (Chris) Miller of Mandeville; his grandchildren, Matthew (Mandy) Falke, Brittney Falke (Matthew) Griffin, Jenny (Vince) Norman, Kevin (Emily) Adams, James Caleb (Savannah) Parker, Josh Yates, Justin (Amanda) Yates, Maggie Adele Miller, Nicholas Parker Miller, Christopher Nathan Miller; and 13 great grandchildren, Dylan, Wyatt, Tristen, Olivia, Paisley, McKenna, Kyli, Ella, Callie, Seth, Drew, Addie, and Brody. He is also survived by cousins, friends, and his special caregivers for four years, Mattie, Cindee, Connie, Jolen, and Katy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel “Nick” and Marie Bertoniere Parker.

Visitation celebrating the life of Mr. Parker will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue at Zion Lutheran Church in Bogalusa at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Arthur and Bro. Darryl Fortenberry. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by Magic City American Legion Post #24.
