Lovell Alford

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).

Mr. Lovell Alford was born Sept. 9, 1929, to the late Ben Alford and Annie A. Alford and he departed from his earthly house to his home in glory at the age of 89, on Friday, July 26, 2019, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Alford; his mother, Annie Alford; sisters, Minnie Lee Taylor and Ollie Mae Silas; brothers, Archie Alford and William Alford; great-granddaughter, Nyshell Petree; and children, Lovern, Deborah and Kenneth Alford.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Jessie Alford of Bogalusa; daughters, Leslie Adams of Baltimore, Md., Viola Alford of Gautier, Ethel (Kenneth) Willis of Elm City, N.C., Pearlie Alford of Bogalusa, Shelley Henderson of Matthew, N.C., and Jo-anna Alford of Bridgeport, Conn.; one son, Leonard (Carmen) Alford of Stratford, Conn.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one loving and caring god-son, Kenny Peters II of Bogalusa; a special son, Charles Warner of North Heaven, Conn.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 3, at 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Bogalusa, with the Rev. M.J. Galloway, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
