Bogalusa’s Clyedterrious Thompson has had a successful year and that has continued into the summer.
Thompson competed in the USATF Region 6 junior Olympic Championships that was held July 11-14 in Meridian, Miss.
The top five from each event advanced to the Junior Olympic Finals, which will take place in Sacramento, Calif., this upcoming week.
Thompson made it in two events. He was second in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 8.25 inches and he took fourth for the 100 meters after running in 11.02 seconds.
The accomplishment continues what has been a great 2018-19 season for Thompson before we turn the page to 2019-20.
Thompson won the indoor Division II long jump (21-10.75) competition, and was second in the 60 (6.97) and 400 (50.96).
At the Class 3A state outdoor meet in May, Thompson was third in the long jump after finishing with a distance of 21-5.25.
