Mrs. Janie Foster Peters was born on Jan. 25, 1945, to the late Ora Lee Johnson and James Foster in Bogalusa. She departed this life on May 5, 2019, at Pam Specialty Hopsital in Covington.
She leaves to cherish her memories: eight daughters, Chiqeta Pittman, Laveta Sowell (Fred Scott), Lorraine Williams, Janice Sowell (Edward Hall), Cassandrea Sowell, Tokingea Peters (Jeremy Hall), all of Bogalusa, Oralisa (Donnie Ray Baldwin) of Hattiesburg, Miss., Wilda Spikes (Toriana Morris) of Baton Rouge; one step-daughter, Denise Peters of Sandy Hook, Miss.; one son, Kendrick Peters (DeAna Nelson) of Bogalusa; eight sisters, Rose (Eddie Adams), Barbara (Ron Felice), Gilda Bell (Tommy Brumfield), Ruby Mingo, Faylene Foster, Venette Sheridan, Carolyn (Janola Walker), Nicole Peters (Broderick) and Sheray McLellan(Douglas); four brothers, Willie Johnson, Bobby Foster, Tyrone Pigott and Larry Mark; three special friends, Katie Dillon, Lisa Holmes and Curtis Hodges; a special niece, Jahon Exell; 33 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie D. Peters; mother, Ora Lee Johnson; father, James Foster; six brothers, Lovell, Charles and Joseph Johnson Jr., James and Willie Foster and Ray Pigott; and four sisters, Joan, Deborah, Ossilean and Paulette Foster.
Visitation will be Friday, May 17, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., followed by family hour from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The funeral service will be Saturday, May 18, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charlie Parker officiating. Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
