Sandra Felicia “Tea” Peters-Young was born Jan. 29, 1959, to the proud mother, Velma Peters, and father, Freddie B. Peters.

She joined Live Oak United Methodist at an early age and dedicated herself to directing the choir until her health declined.

We as Christians all have a claim check. There are many things we can purchase with that claim. They are both spiritual and natural. On March 3, 2019, Sandra presented her claim check at Pam Specialty Hospital in Covington. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith and now I shall receive eternal rest on the journey into eternity, leaving from the banks of Jordan.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory; her two daughters, Lashonda Peters and Jasmine Peters and a granddaughter LaDerrica Peters, all of Angie; four brothers, Larry (Lula Bell) Hart of New Orleans, Kenneth W. (Jerry) Peters and Calvin D. Peters of Bogalusa and Michael A. (Sandra) Peters of Columbia, Miss.; godbrother, Melvin White of Bogalusa; sister-in-law, JoAnn Peters of New Orleans; and two special friends, Katrina Daniels of New Orleans and Dorothy Williams of Bogalusa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Velma Peters and Freddie B. Peters; and brothers, Freddie B. Peters Jr. and Sgt. Michael O. Hines Sr.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 8, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Live Oak United Methodist Church in Angie, with the Rev. Terrence August, pastor, officiating.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements.
