Dorothy McGehee

Dorothy “Marie” McGehee, 88, was born on Sept. 26, 1930, and passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family. “Marie” was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

A lifelong resident of Bogalusa, she was a loyal member of the local Gardening Club, Civic League, and American Legion Auxiliary. Marie retired from the Bogalusa City School System, where she drove a school bus for 27 faithful years.

She is survived by her brother, Rodney (Betty) Hunt; her four sons, John Edward McGehee, Thomas Alan McGehee, James “Mack” (Karla) McGehee, and Paul McGehee (Renee Freeman), all of Bogalusa; her loving grandchildren, Chantelle (Corey) Dolese of Houma, Jennifer Sharp, MaKayla Newman, Blake McGehee, Katelyn (Hunter) Creel, Hayleigh McGehee and fiancé, Kirkland Creel, Lindsey McGehee, Caitlynn (Skyler) Saucier, and Kelci Freeman, all of Bogalusa; great-grandchildren, Taylor LaFrance and Logan Dolese, both of Houma, Braxton Newman, Jackson Creel and Julianna Creel, all of Bogalusa; and dedicated caregiver, Sue Kahl.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Dale McGehee; parents, Melvin and Viola Laborde Hunt; infant brother, Herbert Hunt; brother, John Stanley Hunt; and great-grandson, Daxton Zayne Sharp.

Visitation was Monday, Dec. 10, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home. The funeral took place on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. Interment followed in the McGehee Cemetery.
