Charlene Williams Ray, 84, of Elizabethtown, Ky., died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at her home.

She was a native of Bogalusa, and was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church, where she led the senior adult choir, worked with WMU and International Ministries, and went on several mission trips. She was attending Lee’s Creek Baptist Church in Bogalusa, when she met her future husband, Bill, who was the interim music minister. She was well known for singing with her husband at weddings, funerals, nursing homes, and Sunday school classes. She loved playing cards and dominoes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William C. Ray; parents, George Dewey Williams Sr. and Thelma Lossett Williams; brother, W.E. Williams; and two sisters, Mary B. Pounds and Irma Lee Dantin.

She is survived by three children, Melanie (Tony) Twyman, Kevin (Cathy) Ray and Valette (Greg) Smith, all of Elizabethtown; brother, G.D. (Geri) Williams of Bogalusa; nine grandchildren, Colin (McKenna) Twyman, Ashley Ray (Mike) Poole, Will Steen, Nick Steen, Tyler Twyman, Arin Twyman, Jordan (Thomas) Smith, Emily Smith, and Ricki Ann Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Ray Twyman and Emersyn Rae Poole.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, with Dr. Ray Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at noon at the church.
