Football season is quickly drawing close

Believe it or not, we are not that far away from football season.

The first scrimmage involving a team from Washington Parish takes place in less than a month, when Ben’s Ford Christian School travels to Brookhaven Academy to compete in a three-team scrimmage.

Before long, teams will be playing under the lights on Friday night looking to win district titles and playoff games with the ultimate goal of capturing a state title.

The jamborees for the teams work out great for local fans, the six teams are competing in a combined two jamborees and both are in Washington Parish.

The two Washington Parish teams that play in the MAIS, Ben’s Ford Christian School and Bowling Green School, will play in a jamboree at Ben’s Ford on Aug. 10 and their regular seasons begin a week later.

The Washington Parish LHSAA teams, Bogalusa, Franklinton, Pine and Varnado are playing in the Washington Parish Jamboree, which is Aug. 24 at Pine.

Pine begins its regular season six days later and the other three teams are playing their openers on Aug. 31.

We wish all of the Washington Parish teams good luck this season.
