Two Washington Parish baseball players had a big accomplishment this week.

Franklinton’s Wyatt Verret and Mt. Hermon’s Colby Smith were selected to the 2018 Louisiana Coaches Association All-Region 9 Team after both put solid seasons together.

This team features players from several parishes, including Washington, Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, Livingston and St. Helena.

Verret posted a 4-2 record with two saves and a 1.75 ERA. He also struck out 34 and walked 12 in 36 innings. Offensively, he averaged .388 with one homer, 18 runs batted, 22 runs scored along with seven doubles.

Smith went 7-1 on the hill with a 3.33 ERA. Smith struck out 81 batters in 56-1/3 innings. On the offensive side, Smith batted .391 and drove in 26 RBIs.
