Rosezetta Matthews Fields, 67, died suddenly on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, in Varnado.

From her birth in Bogalusa on Monday, Aug. 21, 1950, to her death on that tragic Monday morning, she nourished people around her with love, faith and wisdom. Rosezetta “Rose” had a knack for solving problems and giving insightful advice. She truly lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures by chatting with friends, family and anyone she met. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rosezetta had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

God created her phenomenally for her parents, Elder Leslie Fields Sr. and Mary Moses Fields Peters. She was the seventh of nine children.

At an early age, she married Bobby Oless Matthews Sr. in the union that they were blessed to have eight children — Lyndon, Solomon, Vincent, Karla, Rodrick, Bobby, Emelda and Barbara.

She also reared four other children whom she raised as her sons, Brian (Shawanda) Mingo, Albert (Kyla) Mingo, Terrance (Deidra) Robinson and Gregory (Tasha) Mingo.

She attended church at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Varnado.

She will be missed by special friends whom she talked to daily — Effie Hatcher, Claudette Morris and William Johnson.

Rosezetta is survived by five sons, Lyndon (Zikia) Matthews, Solomon (Marketta) Matthews, Vincent Matthews, Rodrick Matthews and Bobby Matthews Jr.; two daughters, Karla Matthews and Emelda Matthews; two sisters, Delester (Eddie) Richard and Linda Fields Little; one brother, Supt. Leslie Fields Jr.; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by parents; daughter, Barbara Matthews; sisters, Mary Lee Dunn, Gladys Moore and Mary Ella Williams; and her brothers, Lavoris Fields and Daniel Charles Fields.

Family, friends and others whose lives Rosezetta touched are invited to the visitation at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home, located at 638 N. Columbia St. in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course fill the room with laughter according to the way she lived her life.

On Friday, March 2, at 1 p.m., the funeral service will be held at Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., located at 64083 Parish Road 539 in Angie.
