Benjamin Louis Thomas Sr., born Jan. 9, 1943, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2018 at the age of 75. He served the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church. He loved helping others and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by a son, Benjamin L. Thomas Jr. and his wife Tracy of Franklinton; a daughter, Angela Thomas; a step-daughter, Patsy Welsh and her husband Ritchie of Franklinton; a sister, Betty Thomas Hartfield and her husband Acy Hartfield of Bogalusa; nine grandchildren, Matthew Welsh, Lauren Welsh, Christian Welsh, Adam Welsh, Ashlyn Welsh, Nicholson Rachal, Ryan Thomas, Logan Thomas and Luke Thomas; and a nephew, Acy Hartfield Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Floreda Jenkins Thomas.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resumed after after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, until the service time at 11 a.m. Rev Leon Hickman officiated the services and the interment was held in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery in Sheridan.
