Alan Brumfield

Alan Scott Brumfield, 53, departed this life Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.

He was born April 25, 1964, to the late Oless and Willene Brumfield. He was the second youngest of 10 children.

He attended Franklinton High School, where he graduated in 1982.

Scott joined Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, USA at an early age and was a faithful member until his health failed. He was a member of the usher board and vice president of the Brotherhood. For many years, Scott worked as a brick mason. He enjoyed this work with a passion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willene and Oless Brumfield; and three brothers, Alvin S. Brumfield, Preston W. Brumfield and Richard C. Brumfield.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Jasmine (Kendal) Wilson; his sons, Jayden Patterson of Franklinton, and Joshua Brooks of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Merita (Willie) Terry of Dallas, Texas, Frances (Larry) Smith of New Orleans, and Lynetta Johnson of Pittsburg, Calif.; three brothers, Gerald Oless (Laura) Brumfield of New Orleans, Ervin Lamont Brumfield Sr., of Houston, Texas, and William Issac Brumfield of Franklinton; four aunts, Selena J. Crain of Elkhart, Ind., Laura Perkins Walton of Decatur, Ga., Oda Mae Brumfield and Christine Taylor, both of Franklinton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, USA, located at at 2200 Greenlaw St. in Franklinton, and the funeral service will be held the same day at 11 a.m. at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness. The Rev. Terrance August will be officiating.
