Last Wednesday was the early signing period and it was an exciting day for Washington Parish.
Two local high school football players and one who played high school football locally signed National Letters of Intent, and last week, another local athlete made a verbal commitment.
Franklinton quarterback Tahj Magee signed to play football for Louisiana Tech and will be a wide receiver. Pine offensive lineman Brendon Kelley signed his letter of intent to play for Southeastern Louisiana University. Independence Community College defensive back Delrick Abrams, who played high school football for Varnado, signed with the University of Colorado.
Also last week, former Franklinton catcher C.J. Estave, who is playing baseball for Copiah-Lincoln Community College, verbally committed to the University of New Orleans to play for the Privateers in the 2019 season.
Congratulations to these four players on their accomplishments and good luck to them in having or continuing to have solid college careers.
There may be other players that sign letters of intent before the end of the school year.
The next signing day is Wednesday, Feb. 7.
