Charles Corkern

Charles Ray Corkern, born Dec. 28, 1932, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 27, 2017, at the age of 84.

Charles worked as an officer at the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and was very close with the Franklinton Police Department. Charles was a veteran in the U.S. Army and was a member of Monroe Street Baptist Church.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sharon Foil Corkern of Franklinton; two daughters, Cheryl Phares and her husband Mark of Hammond, and Cvnthia Noelle Corkern of Covington; a brother, Jimmy Corkern of Enon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovead and Grace Corkern; a son, Richard Wayne Corkern; and a sister, Margaret Cooper.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 31, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home beginning at 11 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. The Rev. Chad Jenkins will officiate the services and the interment will follow in the Knights Gardens of Memory Cemetery, located in Enon.

Magic City American Legion Post #24 will provide military honors.
