FHS soccer team shows improvement

Franklinton’s soccer team took the field Tuesday against a solid Pearl River team on a chilly night.

The Demons’ squad is still in young in terms of the number of years the school has had a soccer program. The program began in the 2011-12 season.

The teams entered Tuesday’s game having met five times since the 2014-15 season. Pearl River has won every match. During that time period, there have been some close games and some lopsided contests. There has been a 2-0 and a 2-1 game along with a pair of 8-0 contests and a 5-0 game.

On Tuesday, the Demons lost 4-0. Despite the score, the defense was solid throughout. Three of Pearl River’s goals came during a five-minute stretch in the second half.

Overall, the Demons soccer team has improved. Their defense did a good job Tuesday night and their offense created scoring chances. They were unable to capitalize, as Pearl River’s goalkeeper was tough.

The improvement is there and hopefully the Demons can continue to get better as the season rolls on.
