The sweet Angel of Mercy moved in quietly on Nov. 30, 2017, and bore the spirit of Glenda Pierce “Bennie” Montgomery at her residence in Bogalusa. She was born Nov. 26, 2017, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Mollie Crain) Pierce in Bogalusa.

Glenda was a faithful member of Thirkield United Methodist Church, where she was delighted in serving on the Usher Board, Communion Steward, Lay Speaker and also a member of the United Methodist Women where she held the position of membership secretary, until her health failed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., followed by the Family Hour from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at Thirkield United Methodist Church, located at 1108 Donnell St. in Bogalusa, with the Rev. Nolan Robinson, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her memories her nephew, Kenneth R. (Barbara) Pierce of Bogalusa; niece, Barbara (Richard) Smith of Lansing, Mich.; devoted nieces, Jerri (Joe) McClure of Lansing and Ollisteen Peyton of Sontag, Miss.; two special friends, Celeste (Jerome) Young and Debra Smith of Bogalusa; brother-in-law, the Rev. R.E. (Carre) Montgomery of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters-in-law, Della Chism and Loretta Patterson of Denver, Colo., and Ollie Simmons of Sontag; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Montgomery; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Mollie Crain) Pierce; five sisters, Irma Pierce Bolton Kaigler, Myrtle Marie Pierce, Doris Juanita Pierce, Hilda Gretchen Pierce Rodgers and Shirley E. Pierce; two nephews, Steve Rodgers and Emmitt Rodgers.
