A former Walmart employee from Bogalusa was arrested by the Bogalusa Police Department on Saturday, for two counts of theft over $5,000 and conspiracy to commit felony theft from the company, according to Maj. Percy Knight, public information officer for the BPD.

“During the investigation, it was learned that on Friday, Nov. 10, that Walmart employee, Ronald McMorris, 20, of Bogalusa was working a register at a check out line when he loaded 41 different gift cards for two separate people,” Knight said. “McMorris is accused of swiping and loading cash on the gift cards at his register, without taking payment from the two suspects, for a total of $39,217.67.

“On Sunday, Nov. 12, McMorris was placed under arrest when he arrived for work at Walmart.

“The BPD Detective Division is currently looking for the two suspects that received the gift cards, for questioning. They are both described as black males, possibly riding in a black Chevrolet Tahoe.”

Anyone who can identify either of the suspects is asked to call the BPD at 985-732-3611.
