The beginning of October means that high school football is in its stretch run and local teams are looking to finish strong, as the playoffs aren’t far away.

In LHSAA action, two teams begin district play tonight.

Varnado, which is 2-2, is opening District 8-1A competition tonight by hosting Covenant Christian Academy.

Bogalusa, which enters with a 2-3 record, is getting started in District 7-3A play and is on the road, facing Albany.

Last night, Pine entered with a 3-2 record and continued district play against Amite.

Franklinton was 2-3 to begin 2017 and played a non-district game against Salmen. The two teams will meet later in the year for a district matchup.

In MAIS, Ben’s Ford Christian School is 2-5 and is in a league contest tonight against Newton County Academy at home. Bowling Green is 0-7 and is playing a non-district game tonight when the Buccaneers head to Adams County Christian School.

Good luck to all of the teams, as they look to have a strong finish to the regular season.
