The summer is nearly over and the children are getting ready to go back to school and getting ready to have a great 2017-18 school year.

This also means the fall portion of the sports schedule is about to get underway.

The fall sports include football, cross country, volleyball and MAIS softball.

Bowling Green has the only MAIS softball team in Washington Parish, and the Lady Bucs begin their season Aug. 3 on the road against Centreville Academy.

Football scrimmages and jamborees for LHSAA schools take place in August, with the regular season starting Sept. 1. MAIS schools have their scrimmages and jamborees from early- to mid-August, with the regular season starting Aug. 18.

Volleyball and cross country start in late August.

It’s an exciting time of year for everybody and we wish every school in Washington Parish good luck in all sports this season.
