Take part in our city’s countless events

The Daily News suggests that you support everything you are interested in that is offered locally. Hopefully, the American Legion 40 & 8 benefit golf tournament was a smashing success a couple of Saturdays ago. And we hope the Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce has sold plenty of tickets for its 11th annual Saints tickets raffle.

The Girl Power youth camp, for girls aged 4 to 16, on Saturday, July 22, is another good thing. Bogalusa High School Class of 2012 alumni Joiya Smith and Myleeza Mingo, who want to give back to their community, will lead the camp.

We also hope that everybody supports the growers at the Bogalusa Farmers Market, which is set up at Goodyear Park from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. every Saturday.

We suggest that music and general good times lovers come out and enjoy the Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival, which takes place annually on the last Friday and Saturday of September. And we hope that lovers of classic cars go out to the Open Road Cruisers Cruise-Ins at Zesto’s every other Thursday evening through August. Or, take advantage of the many programs at the local library.

There is pretty much something for every interest, if you know where to go, so keep reading the Daily News Community Calendar.
