Last week, the Bogalusa Little League 13-14 year old All-Star Team made history.

For the first time ever, the 13-14s captured the Junior League’s Louisiana Championship.

And it was anything but easy.

The team lost in the second round, making it a tough road to the title.

Then, needing to go 2-0 against Mid City while Mid City had to win just once, Bogalusa got down, 9-3, early on in the first game of the finals.

The team came back strong and trimmed it to 9-8 after posting five runs in the sixth. Bogalusa added two more in the seventh to pull off the 10-9 victory to force a deciding game.

Bogalusa captured the final game 11-6.

Bogalusa never trailed in that game. They led 7-6 after five before adding four runs in the sixth in the victory.

The team has advanced to the Southwest Regionals. The tournament takes place from Aug. 2-8 in Santa Fe, N.M. If Bogalusa wins the double elimination tournament, they will advance to the World Series, which takes place in Taylor, Mich. Bogalusa’s first game of the regional tournament is set for Aug. 3 at noon against East Texas.
