Two annual camps — football and basketball — took place last week, which featured Bogalusa High School graduates helping out the community by teaching participants about the sports and life.

The 15th annual Legends All-Pro Football Camp and the Sports Work Academy Basketball Camp took place at Bogalusa High School and the 11th annual Bogalusa YMCA respectively.

The football camp is led by Bogalusa assistant football coach Bruce Plummer, who is a 1983 Bogalusa High School graduate, is a former NFL player and scout. Plummer runs the legends camp and coaches come in from different areas, some from out of town to help with the camp.

The basketball camp is run by 1985 Bogalusa High School graduate Michael Galloway, who is a former basketball player and track athlete at BHS, and Nikita Wilson.

Galloway comes in from Atlanta, Ga., for the clinic. Wilson, who also lives out-of-town, played for LSU and the Portland Trail Blazers.

They are joined each year by Galloway’s brother, 1981 Bogalusa High School graduate Murrell Galloway.

Murrell is a former all-district player for the Lumberjacks in basketball. This year, the group also had former Tulane quarterback Terrence Jones, who played basketball, baseball and football in high school.

Murrell Galloway and Jones also come from out-of-town for the camp.

Credit goes Plummer and Galloway for organizing these clinics and everybody who works them for giving back to the community.
