Bogalusa High fundraiser meet is today

This morning, area school athletes are headed to Bogalusa High School’s Lewis V. Murray Jr. Stadium for the second annual Youth Track & Field Fun Day.

The event, which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., is a competition with Bogalusa High School sixth graders along with first-through-sixth graders from Ben’s Ford Christian School, Annunciation Catholic School, Central Memorial School, Byrd Elementary School and Northshore Charter School.

Money raised from the event benefits Bogalusa’s track and field teams and the meet gives athletes from the participating schools a chance to compete and also potentially get introduced to competitions that take place at a track meet.

The registration deadline was Wednesday, but the meet is open to fans for $5 to attend.

About 200 athletes competed at last year’s meet.

Bogalusa track and field coaches and athletes will be working the meet and the top seven finishers from each event will get an award.

The weather has been great all week and hopefully that’ll continue today. Good luck to everybody involved with the meet and be sure to try and attend the meet for a great day.
