Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office said that a parish jail inmate was recently arrested on additional charges, including first-degree aggravated rape, following an investigation into the suspect’s case.

On March 22, William Jacob Williams, 30, a parish resident, was arrested on charges of domestic violence by aggravated assault, domestic abuse by battery strangulation, domestic violence by child endangerment, false imprisonment and cruelty to a juvenile. He was placed in the Washington Parish Jail without bond on the domestic violence charges and $8,000 bond on the other two charges.

Haley said that during the course of that investigation, a patrol deputy uncovered additional information that indicated Williams also was having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor female. An interview was scheduled with the Child Advocacy Center, at which time the minor provided details of non-consensual sexual encounters with Williams.

Based on evidence collected both prior to and during the interview with the Child Advocacy Center, Williams was brought out of the jail and interviewed, at which time he admitted to sexual encounters with the minor, Haley said.

Williams was re-arrested Thursday for additional charges of first-degree aggravated rape and carnal knowledge of a juvenile. His total bond was increased to $408,000.

“Our patrol deputy did an outstanding job with this very serious matter,” said Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal. “He thoroughly investigated all allegations and was able to build a solid case against Williams. I congratulate him for a job well done.

“Senseless and brutal crimes like this shock the conscience of every decent person in our parish and beyond. The crimes committed by Williams are inexcusable and should earn him a long stay in a state penitentiary. He is a predator who must be isolated from society.

“I extend my heartfelt sympathy to all who have been victimized by him. I ask everyone to join me in praying for healing for all who have been traumatized by Williams.”
